Short Gets the Start

After almost two weeks where it appeared that the Giants were going to go with rookie Gerris Wilkinson as the starting weak side linebacker Sunday against the Redskins, TGI has learned that indeed veteran Brandon Short will get the nod.

Short learned late in the week that he'd be with the starting 11, after basically running with the second team for much of the Giants two weeks of practice since their disastrous loss in Seattle.

The club is without starter Carlos Emmons, who slightly tore a pectoral muscle against the Seahawks.

Short, the club's fourth-round pick in 2000, was inactive for New York's first three games after offseason knee surgery. He posted 245 tackles and seven sacks in four years with New York before joining the Panthers for the last two seasons.
