Giant Notes

Rookie free agent DT Matt Mitrione all but solidified his roster spot with a fourth-quarter sack. That was his third QB bag in three games. He then added a forced fumble on Falcons RB Travis Jervey, which was returned 20 yards for a touchdown by rookie LB Wes Mallard.

Reserve S Clarence LeBlanc was clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. LeBlanc, who has had a tremendous preseason, was forced into special teams action late in the contest because WR Jonathan Carter was goofing off on the sideline and wasn't ready to enter the game. LeBlanc stepped in for Carter, and promptly broke his leg. There's a good chance that LeBlanc, who fractured his left tibia, will be out for the season.

Wes Mallard and Kevin Lewis were responsible for allowing the blocked punt.

The Giants are expected to bring in another fullback since they're unhappy with the performances of Charles Stackhouse and Darian Barnes.

The injury bug finally found New York. TE Jeremy Shockey had to leave the game early after spraining his left ankle. X-rays on Shockey were negative. Shockey's backup, TE Dan Campbell, also sprained his left ankle.

MLB Micheal Barrow was forced from action, leaving the contest due to a mild knee strain.

Reserve DT Lance Legree left the game with a knee injury.

RB Sean Bennett didn't play because of a tight hamstring.

RBs Delvin Joyce and Antonio Warren served as New York's first-team kickoff returners. If those two can handle the job, at least until rookie Tim Carter returns to action, Jonathan Carter and Damon Washington could become expendable.
