Insider Game Notes

QB Kerry Collins left the game in the second period with a bruised left shoulder. Collins is scheduled to go for an MRI Sunday.

The apology finally came. During Saturday evening's game, Tiki Barber expressed his sorrow to Michael Strahan for his off-season comments that sparked a war of words and some really bad feelings.

On live television with CBS sideline reporter Jay Glazer, Barber apologized to Strahan. For the record, Strahan accepted. Both players said after the game that the issue has been dead for quite some time now.

QB Kerry Collins left the game in the second period with a bruised left shoulder. "It's all right," said Collins, who was injured on the first series but continued to play after that. "If it were regular season, I would have played. I wouldn't have ever said anything to Jim or the trainers."

Collins is scheduled to go for an MRI Sunday.

WR Tim Carter left the game with a rib injury, but X-rays were negative and he returned to action.

DE Cedric Scott left the contest with a hyper-extended left elbow.

RB Ron Dayne (neck) and K Owen Pochman (knee) missed the game due to injuries. TEs Jeremy Shockey and Dan Campbell were held out of action with knee ailments.

WR Amani Toomer had five catches for 50 yards in the first quarter.

CB Will Allen has had better games. He missed a couple tackles and was also beaten by Wayne Chrebet for a 32-yard reception that set up the Jets second TD. CB Ralph Brown was beaten badly by Jets WR Santana Moss in the third quarter for an 18- yard TD.

LB Dhani Jones had 10 solo tackles and rookie MLB Nick Greisen looked good, making six tackles in place of the injured Mike Barrow.

Former Giants S Sam Garnes separated Ron Dixon from his helmet on a pass play in the first quarter.

With the loss, the Giants now trail the all-time preseason series with the Jets 17-16-1. The Jets have captured the past seven exhibition games over Big Blue, including a 17-14 decision last summer.
