The only word from the team was that no announcement was forthcoming on Tuesday. However, don't be surprised at all to find out Wednesday that Coughlin will be back, with or without the one-year extension that has been discussed.
As for his staff, it's likely that some members will be jettisoned – specifically defensive coordinator Tim Lewis and specials teams coordinator Mike Sweatman, who has been rumored to be retiring.
On the GM front, things are looking better and better for Jerry Reese, New York's top in-house candidate. Already, New England mastermind Scott Pioli (his decision) has been ruled out of contention for Ernie Accorsi's vacant GM post. The Bill Parcells rumors are just that. Neither side has contacted the other expressing interest and it doesn't appear that either will. Expect the GM decision to come down with the coaching announcement or shortly after.
