Giants work out RB, former overall top pick

If the Giants have any hope of coming out St. Louis with a win, they must play their "A" game, which includes a strong running attack. With an injured Tiki Barber and waning confidence in Ron Dayne, the Giants worked out a running back today.

RB Tiki Barber said that he sprained the second toe on his right foot during the Giants' 16-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The injury was so painful that Barber had trouble walking after the game.

Barber missed practice today and said he plans to return on Wednesday September 11. He expects to play against the Rams, but will he be effective when the Giants need everyone at their peak?

The Giants are obviously concerned about the injury, especially after their poor rushing performance in the season opener.

New York gained 43 yards on 22 carries. Barber led the Giants with 29 yards on 15 carries, and Ron Dayne only added another 10 yards on 6 carries.

Ken Palmer of the Giant Insider tells us that the Giants worked out former top pick Ki-Jana Carter

There is no word on whether the Giants will sign the veteran back, but Palmer confirmed that he did work out for the coaches.

Height: 5-10
Weight: 222
Born: 09/12/1973

Carter was the first overall pick taken by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1995.
