Keys to the Game

The much-criticized offensive line is now two-for-two. They gave Collins plenty enough time to throw.

Timely turnovers. The Giants easily captured the turnover battle, the major key to victory. The Rams coughed it up four times – two fumbles and two INTs. Big Blue had only one Kerry Collins INT, on a tipped pass no less. Jim Fassel preaches winning the turnover battle, and the Giants did just that.

Collins calm, cool and collected. Kerry Collins had one of his best games as a Giant. He threw the ball very well, exhibited great patience and made almost all the correct reads. He pretty much carried the Giants to victory.

O-line just fine. The much-criticized offensive line is now two-for-two. They gave Collins plenty enough time to throw on most occasions against a very aggressive St. Louis defense and helped Tiki Barber average more than four yards a carry on the ground.

Contain defense. Sure the Giants gave up 21 points and 352 yards. But against the Rams, the only goal is to win the game. The Giants defense bent but didn't break on enough occasions to pull out the victory.

Getting the breaks. The Giants benefited from two very questionable calls – Collins' non-fumble midway through the third quarter and Will Peterson's game-sealing INT that replays showed might have hit the ground.
