The Insider Scoop on Ross

In the next week or so, TGI will take a close-up look at each of Big Blue's draft picks and tell you exactly what we've seen and what's going on with the newest Giants.

Aaron Ross has shown exceptional athletic ability, but was unfortunately slowed by injury during the veteran minicamp. Ross fell and banged his head, forcing the Giants to hold him out of drills. He seems to have good speed and an ability to recover on receivers.

Coach Tom Coughlin said that he likes everything he's seen from Ross and that he sees why New York spent a first-round pick on the Texas corner. He appears to have picked up the defense well and has good cover skills.

What we haven't really seen in this very brief period are the good hands and play-making skills that Ross comes advertised with. Not that he's dropped many balls or failed to make plays that were in front of him, but he's yet to make an ‘ohh, ahh' type of pick that everyone's hoping to see in training camp.

While we're still three months away from the start of the season, it would be a shame if Ross isn't a member of the starting defense opening night in Dallas.
