Jared Lorenzen. So far in camp, Lorenzen has stepped up and shown that he's worthy of being the number two quarterback over Anthony Wright. But the real time to shine is between the game-field lines, so tonight will be a big test for Lorenzen in his quest to back up Eli Manning.
Ryan Grant. Those aren't just rumors you're hearing out of Albany. Grant has looked really good and appears on his way to knocking Derrick Ward out of the box as the club's third running back. But of course he needs to win the job on the field.
David Diehl. So far all anyone's noticed about Diehl is that Osi Umenyiora has pretty much schooled him during practices. But please keep in mind that Umenyiora schools basically anyone that lines up in front of him. Playing against Carolina will be Diehl's first chance to show that he can really handle the all-important left tackle job.
James Butler. Like the others, he's proven in the offseason and the first two weeks of training camp that he's worthy of being the starting strong safety. But now he gets the chance to seize a stranglehold on the job as he looks to keep Will Demps running with the second team.
Marco Thomas. The rookie free agent out of Western Illinois has been the most impressive receiver this side of Amani Toomer in Albany. With the first four WRs clearly set and Michael Jennings and David Tyree only precariously in front of him, Thomas, who has lit it up on the practice fields, needs to perform in his first opportunity under the bright lights of NFL game action to have a legitimate shot.
