Rookie WR Tim Carter, slowed by back and rib injuries since the preseason, still doesn't know whether he'll make his NFL debut Sunday in Dallas.
Needless to say, Carter says he's ready to go and wants to, but the ultimate decision rests with Head Coach Jim Fassel.
Carter took a big step toward increasing his value before practice Thursday. For the first time this season he fielded punts, as it looks like the Giants might want to utilize Carter to replace ineffective kick and punt returner Daryl Jones.
No definitive word has yet been made regarding New York's return situation, but it's unlikely New York would activate both Carter and Jones this Sunday, especially in light of the recent strong play from third WR Ron Dixon. It's still unlikely that Carter is going to field punts this Sunday, but if the Giants insert him onto the KOR unit, the club could get by for a week or two on punt returns with former and still willing returner Tiki Barber.
