Hurtin' secondary

CB Will Allen was forced to stay in the game despite a painful injury to his left groin. He injured himself early in the game, but had to remain in because fellow corner Will Peterson re-aggravated his toe injury and was forced to the sideline in the second quarter. The Giants medical staff worked with Allen on stretching each time he came to the sideline.

The Cowboys might have sensed Allen's injury because they threw his way often. Considering he couldn't really push off as well as usual, he did a good job.

The Giants decided that they wanted to leave Jason Sehorn in his nickel role so Ralph Brown came in to replace Peterson. Several Giants believed that Sehorn should have offered – or even insisted – to take on a larger role.

"I didn't want to put him out there," Head Coach Jim Fassel said. "But he probably could have done it."
