Lawrence Tynes had a pretty bad training camp. Yet the Giants decided to keep him over promising youngster Josh Huston during final cuts.
But now, Tynes' shaky performance, which came to a head when he missed not only a field goal, but also banged an extra point off the upright against Philadelphia, has the Giants shopping for a replacement.
Big Blue brought in two kickers - Huston and former Cowboys booter Billy Cundiff - for tryouts, but decided to keep neither.
Huston was the obvious choice, but he must not have shown enough to warrant the job. Cundiff was in for the second time around and still didn't show enough.
Clearly the Giants hope the free-agent visits will wake Tynes up. If not, they're sure to keep looking until they find a more dependable kicker.
