Bryant Receives NFC POW Honors

Giants kicker Matt Bryant was named the NFC special teams player of the week.

Giants kicker Matt Bryant has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for week 11 of the 2002 NFL season.

Bryant was four-for-four in the 19-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. He hit field goals from 43, 34, 33 and 19 yards, with the final kick of 19 yards sealing the win for Big Blue in the fourth quarter.

Other NFC honors went to Running back Michael Bennett of the Minnesota Vikings (offense), linebacker Keith Brooking (defense) of the Atlanta Falcons.

This is Bryant's second (Week 3) Player of the Week Award.

Also receiving consideration for offensive player of the week was Giants rookie TE Jeremy Shockey, who had career highs with 11 receptions and 111 yards.

On defense, DE Michael Strahan, who had seven tackles and two sacks, was also a candidate.
