Giants Sign a New Snapper

The Giants today signed tight end/long snapper Dan O'Leary to their practice squad and released tight end Taman Bryant from the practice squad.

O'Leary, 6-3 and 248 pounds, was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for two months this season. He played in four games and started the Oct. 21 Monday Night Game against Indianapolis when Pittsburgh opened in a two-tight end alignment.

O'Leary, who played college football at Notre Dame, was a sixth-round draft choice by the Buffalo Bills in 2001. He had five special teams tackle in eight games before a wrist injury forced him to go on injured reserve on Nov. 21. The Bills released him on Aug. 27 this year. O'Leary was signed to the Tennessee practice squad on Sept. 11, and stayed there until the Steelers signed him on Sept. 24. Pittsburgh released O'Leary on Nov. 19.

At Notre Dame, O'Leary started 14 of 39 games and finished his career with 32 receptions for 383 yards and four touchdowns.
