Kolodziej and Serwanga sign

Neither DT Ross Kolodziej nor CB Kato Serwanga has played in a game this season.

DT Ross Kolodziej was waived by the Giants on Sept. 1. He signed with San Francisco eight days later and was inactive for three games before being released on Oct. 14. The 49ers re-signed him on Oct. 16 and he was active, but did not play, for the New Orleans game on Oct. 20th. The Niners waived him again on Oct. 22.

Kolodziej, a product of the University of Wisconsin, was the 230th player taken in the 2001 draft. He played in nine games for the Giants last year, starting one game. Kolodziej finished the season with four tackles (three solo).

CB Kato Serwanga played 10 games for the Redskins in 2001, primarily on special teams. He was put on injured reserve by the Redskins on Sept. 1, 2002, then waived on Nov. 27. Serwanga played the first two seasons of his career - 1999 and 2000 - for the New England Patriots. On Dec. 26, 1999, he had 16 tackles, including a sack, against the Buffalo Bills. Serwanga played two years at the University of California after transferring from Pacific.

He was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on April 24, 1998. He spent most of his first season on the practice squad. Serwanga played in 16 games in 1999 and 15 in 2000 for the Patriots. He was waived on Sept. 2, 2001 and signed by the Redskins on Oct. 17, 2001. Washington re-signed him on April 11, 2002.
