If Friday's practice were any indication that just might be the case on Sunday when the Giants host the 49ers.
Pierce again did not practice because of his quad injury and is listed as questionable for the game. Should he be unable to play, Chase Blackburn will start in his place. Linebacker Gerris Wilkinson has been declared out the 49ers game because of the knee injury he suffered in Cleveland. Rookie Bryan Kehl will make his first start in Wilkinson's place and another rookie, Jonathan Goff, will be in uniform for the first time.
Tom Coughlin was asked if Pierce set himself back by playing in Cleveland.
"Well, it didn't help, obviously," Coughlin said. "He was strained and he was trying to go and he was trying to do everything he could, but he was really incapacitated, to a certain extent. He just didn't feel like he could really drive."
*Coughlin said he will decide Sunday whether John Carney or Lawrence Tynes will kick.
AP a question mark
