Sintim in a Rush to Help

New York thought the ACC was so nice they went to it twice.

After selecting North Carolina's Hakeem Nicks in the first round, Big Blue chose Virginia LB Clint Sintim with the 45th overall selection. New York obtained that pick from New Orleans in the deal for Jeremy Shockey.

The 6-3, 356-pound Sintim posted 245 tackles and 27 sacks in his Cavalier career. He lined up mostly on the strong side of the Virginia defense, and figures to start his Giants career in the same spot. During his collegiate career, Sintim made a mark due his to superb pass-rushing prowess.

"I'm pretty familiar with what I'll be doing," Sintim said. "They told me I'll be the Sam linebacker, similar to what I did at Virginia."

Sintim said he wasn't really concerned with the switch from the 3-4 defense he played in at Virginia and the 4-3 the Giants employ.

"At the end of the day, I'm just a linebacker," he said.

Sintim made three other pre-draft visits – to Buffalo, New Orleans and Kansas City – before his fourth and final stop in New York.

"I'm just excited about the opportunity," he said.
