But that's why the Giants scouting staff gets the big bucks. To dismiss any of their draft picks would be foolish, especially due to the tremendous job Jerry Reese has done since taking over.
In quite a surprise, the Giants ended up drafting nine players. Heading into the draft, it seemed very likely that Big Blue would trade at least a few of their 10 picks, if for no other reason than the fact that there's really not a whole lot of room on the roster.
Reese and Co. selected the speedy South Carolina cornerback to complete what appears to be another very successful draft.
Reese mentioned that Woodson has "height, weight and speed," and that you have to "look for some redeeming qualities."
Needless to say the 5-11, 200-pound Woodson has an uphill climb to make. But you only have to look back to a pair of Giants seventh-rounders from two years ago for proof that it can happen. We all know what Michael Johnson and Ahmad Bradshaw have done so far.
Finally, Reese said he was "not surprised" that the Giants ended up using nine of their 10 draft picks.
"We really cherish our picks," the GM said. "Can all these guys make the team? We'll see."
