Goff in, Giants Thin at RB

While no one is making any official declarations, it's obvious that Jonathan Goff is going to get the start at middle linebacker this Sunday in place of Antonio Pierce.

With Pierce on Injured Reserve with a bulging disk in his neck, the Giants had to two options - and somewhat surprisingly chose the riskier. Goff has played very little while Chase Blackburn offers much more experience.

In any event, look for the man New York hopes will be their MLB of the future manning the middle in the crucial contest against the Cowboys.

Also, it look like the Giants might be thin at running back against Dallas. Running back D.J. Ware, who sustained a concussion in the Denver game, will not play against Dallas. Another back, Ahmad Bradshaw, did not practice Wednesday because of his foot and ankle injuries. Bradshaw did not play in Denver. Starter Brandon Jacobs and rookie Gartrell Johnson are the only other running backs on the roster.

Besides Ware and Bradshaw, the only other player to miss practice was safety Michael Johnson, who left the Denver game with a groin injury. Wide receiver Derek Hagan (hamstring) was limited. Quarterback Eli Manning (foot) and linebacker Michael Boley (back) practiced fully.
