Scoop on Rolle, 2 FAs Lost

TGI was fortunate enough to get the inside scoop on new safety Antrel Rolle. Amberly Dressler has covered Rolle's career with the Cardinals and offers TGI this special insight:

The Giants got themselves a playmaker in every since of the word. With only two years of safety experience under his cleats, Antrel Rolle is just beginning to play his best football. His integration into the safety role was something the Cardinals prided themselves in. He was the only member of the Cardinals 2005 draft class to still be in red, and the Cardinals thought his loyalty to the club would override a lucrative contract elsewhere, as his roster bonus of $4 million and the $8 million owed in 2010 was only written in the contract in order to bring both camps back to the drawing board.

The Cardinals were wrong. Instead, the Giants have a player who can pick off the passer, add versatility to their secondary, be physical, make plays with the ball in his hands, add another dimension to their special teams and one who could live up to what they are paying him.

Also on Monday, the Giants suffered their first two casualties of free agency when QB David Carr signed a two-year deal with San Francisco and DT Fred Robbins inked a three-year pact to rejoin Steve Spagnuolo in St. Louis.
