Luke Petitgout will head home to Georgetown, Del. this weekend as he prepares for potentially the most important weekend of his life.

Petitgout, New York's first-round pick in 1999, is Big Blue's top free agent priority. The left tackle is also sought after by several other NFL clubs, including Tampa Bay, Miami, Cleveland and Houston. The unrestricted free agency period begins Friday, but neither Petitgout nor the Giants expect a deal to be done before then. "I'm not really looking at Friday as a deadline," Petitgout said. "I just want a fair contract; I'm not looking to break the bank."

The 26-year-old said he would like to stay in New York, but also doesn't want to sell himself short during the free agent process.

"I see my better years ahead of me," he said.
