TGI Makes the Pick

By now you've heard all the names. McClain. Haden. Spiller. You know the biggest question facing the Giants heading into Draft weekend: Will they trade Osi Umenyiora? Well, TGI's here to give you as educated a guess as you'll find.

First off, it says here that Osi isn't going anywhere – nor should he. He's too valuable a player to unload because of some bygone philosophical differences. He's too popular among his teammates, coaches and the fans. Surely Jerry Reese will receive some phone calls regarding Umenyiora's availability. But unless he's totally blown away, he shouldn't and won't deal New York's Pro Bowl DE.

As for the first round tonight, Reese will also flirt with trading up anywhere from five to seven spots from New York's 15th slot in an attempt to get Alabama LB Rolando McClain. But the price will prove to be too high and the Giants will sit tight where they'll be thrilled to see that Clemson RB C.J. Spiller falls to them in the middle of the first round.

While it might not appear as if the Giants need a running back as much as they need to fill holes at other positions (i.e. linebacker, cornerback, offensive tackle) they believe that Spiller can be a special back in this league and they pull the trigger on him.

TGI will be at Giants headquarters for all seven rounds – and three days – of the draft, bringing you all the inside information all the way. Needless to say, you'd be best served by checking back at thegiantinsider.com often.
