Giants make more roster moves

The Giants have re-signed quarterback Jason Garrett, cornerback Kato Serwanga and tackle Barrett Brooks, and signed linebacker Brad Rice.

Garrett is entering his fourth season as a reserve quarterback for the
Giants. He has not thrown a regular season pass for the team, but he is a
savvy mentor and valuable confidant for the Giants' other quarterbacks, both
Kerry Collins and Jesse Palmer. Garrett joined the Giants in 2000 after a
seven-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys. He was 6-3 as a starting
quarterback in Dallas, where he earned two Super Bowl rings.

Serwanga was originally signed by the Giants on Dec. 3, 2002, one week after
his release by the Washington Redskins. Five days later, in his first game in
a Giants uniform, he helped defeat the Redskins by recovering a muffed punt
that led to a Tiki Barber touchdown, then forcing a fourth-quarter fumble
that was recovered by Shaun Williams. Serwanga saw action in three regular
season games and on special teams in the NFC Wild Card game at San Francisco.
A five-year veteran, he began his career with the New England Patriots.

Brooks was signed by the Giants on Dec. 17, 2002 and was inactive for the
final two games of the regular season and the Wild Card game. Brooks, 6-4,
326 pounds, played in two games last season for the Green Bay Packers, the
last on Dec. 8 against Minnesota. He was waived the following day. Brooks was
in Denver's training camp last summer but was cut on Sept. 1. He was out of
football in 2001. He has played 97 NFL games, with 62 starts. Brooks joined
the NFL as Philadelphia's second-round draft choice in 1995. He started 63 of
the 64 games he played for the Eagles over four seasons. He signed with
Detroit as an unrestricted free agent in 1999 and spent two seasons with the
Lions. Brooks was in training camp with the Cleveland Browns in 2001.

Rice, a linebacker from Idaho, was originally signed by the Giants on April
26, 2002. He was with the team in training camp before being waived on Aug.
26. Rice was signed to the Giants practice squad on Nov. 19, and remained
there until he was waived on Dec. 17.
