Whittle Signs with Tampa Bay

Whittle headed off to Tampa Bay with the Giants best offer, but received a better deal with the defending Super Bowl champs.

The Giants lost their starting right guard as Jason Whittle signed a five-year deal with the Bucs. Whittle will likely play center in Tampa Bay.

Whittle was a valuable 5th-year lineman with the Giants, playing both center and guard with injuries over the years to previous starters like Glen Parker and Ron Stone. The Giants signed Whittle as a free agent in 1998.

Whittle's deal is reported to be five years and $8.2 million including a $1.8 million signing bonus.
