Campbell signed by Dallas

TE Jeremy Shockey lobbied the front office to keep teammate Dan Campbell. Campbell was a free agent and is now a Dallas Cowboy.

The Dallas Cowboys signed free-agent tight end Dan Campbell to a three-year contract Monday. Terms were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-5, 263-pound Texas A&M graduate played four years with the New York Giants after being drafted in the third round (79th overall) during the 1999 NFL draft. He is considered a strong blocker, and he finished last season with 22 receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown in 16 starts.

New York has tight end Jeremy Shockey, it's No. 1 pick in last year's draft who made the All-Pro team as a rookie. Shockey's rapid development made Campbell expendable for the Giants.
