The Giants completed their practice squad today by signing seven players who were cut out of training camp and one from the outside.
The outsider is RB Shawnbrey McNeil, an SMU product who was cut by the Chargers. That confirmation came from McNeil's agent, Ralph Cindrich. McNeil came because Andre Brown, the Giants' fourth-round pick from last season who was waived yesterday, was claimed by the Denver Broncos.
The Giants wasted no time in signing Rhett Bomar to the practice squad as soon as the second-year player passed through waivers at noon today. This will be Bomar's second season on that squad, and he'll be in prime position to move up in case something happens to either starter Eli Manning or backup Sage Rosenfels.
So, too, will TE Bear Pascoe, who had an impressive camp. The Giants also signed a second TE in Jake Ballard, who went in the first cut. Pascoe is the most likely to be on alert for elevation, however, as the Giants kept only two tight ends on the 53-man roster: Kevin Boss and Travis Beckum.
OL Jim Cordle, DT Nate Collins, and S Sha'reff Rashad, all waived yesterday, round out the squad.
