Jaguars gambling on LSU RB

The Jacksonville Jaguars took LSU running back LaBrandon Toefield with their fourth-round pick of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was the 132nd overall selection and the third former Tiger taken, joining running back Domanick Davis and linebacker Bradie James.

Toefield (5-11, 233) chose to leave LSU after an abbreviated junior season. He suffered a broken arm in early October but was able to play late in the season. In the 2001 SEC Championship Game, Toefield suffered his second ACL tear (different knees) but was able to return for the start of the 2002 season.

The Jacksonville backfield features a couple of backs who are similar in stature to Toefield. Fred Taylor (6-1, 232) holds the top spot in the depth chart. Former Southern running back Elvis Joseph (6-1, 219) and fullback Dan Alexander (6-0, 255) will compete with Toefield for carries.
