Jags Sign Several Undrafted Free Agents

Jacksonville continued to add depth and competition to several positions following the Draft this past weekend. In addition to the eight players they drafted, they have now added: Joe Smith (RB-Louisiana Tech), Kevin Simmonds (WR-Howard), Cortez Hankton (WR-Texas Southern), Josh Foster (OT-Colorado), Brett Romberg (C-Miami), Matt Leonard (DT-Stanford), Curtis Randall (LB-Louisiana Tech), Chris Brown (CB/FS-Alabama-Birmingham), Damon Duval (PK/P-Auburn) and Seth Marler (PK-Tulane).

Although we will post Bio's on all these new additions in the very near future, two of these players I have had my eyes on since the Draft because I personally like them and they stand out in particular to me...Romberg and Leonard.

Brett Romberg (C-Miami)

Experienced at Center, Tackle and Guard. The key member of a dominant Miami offensive line.

The winner of the 2002 Dave Rimington Award as college football's finest center...made most of the blocking calls on Miami's outstanding offensive line...did not allow a quarterback sack in his college career...was named an Offensive MVP by the coaching staff in five games during his UM career...a three-time First-Team All-BIG EAST performer...a consensus First-Team All-America in 2002…started his last 37 consecutive games at center. 6'2" 290lbs 5.20 (40 time)

Matt Leonard (DT-Stanford)

Four-year letter-winner from 1999-2002 … Started 23 games in his career … Accounted for 75 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 8.5 quarterback sacks and three interceptions … Started games at nose tackle, defensive end and defensive tackle. Experienced at 4-3 tackle, nose tackle and end. Good strength, initial quickness and athleticism. Able to burst through the hole and close quickly. A punishing tackler and can be a disruptive force on running plays. Excellent penetrator who will find the ball and chase it down. A true warrior who battled back from injuries in 2000 and 2001 seasons.
