Saddled by a five-game losing streak entering Monday's game, not many experts and fans alike gave the Jacksonville Jaguars much of a chance of winning the football game. The point spread swelled from 8 to 11.5, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a television or radio personality that picked Jacksonville. Even the ESPN promos featured the Ravens and showed some Jaguars lowlights.
"It's funny we were watching that pregame show in the locker room and they showed every bad play we had this year," Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew who gained 105 yards on 30 carries said. "It was crazy on offense. It was like, 'I swear we scored at least twice, two or three times,' but they were showing all the bad plays. Enough is enough at one point. The guys got tired of it."
Even the Ravens agreed that this may have been a bigger game for Jacksonville.
"Jacksonville played well as a team. You have to give them credit. They played like it was their Super Bowl," Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin who caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown said.
That sounded like a backhanded compliment but the Jaguars got the final laugh on the scoreboard. Perhaps if Baltimore treated Monday's game a little more like the Super Bowl, they could actually win the AFC North and host a playoff game, then maybe get to the real Super Bowl.
