Without question, the loss of Ahmad Bradshaw cannot be overlooked. A player who battles through virtually any injury, with uncanny heart and determination has a place on any NFL team. With David Wilson and Andre Brown filling out New York's backfield, the Giants moved on from one of the franchise's most dynamic ball carriers. If Wilson takes care of the football and continues to improve his run blocking, it will lessen the blow for a Giants' fanbase that bid farewell to one of its favorite players.
Major Free Agents Signings
The Giants didn't make any blockbuster signings, but adding defensive tackles Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson to an already stout defensive front could transform New York's line into the league's top pass rushing unit. Long-time placekicker Lawrence Tynes is currently a free agent as they Giants will turn to David Buehler and Josh Brown to battle it out during training camp. Big Blue tried to fortify its meager linebacking corps by adding Dan Connor and Kyle Bosworth into the fold. A few under the radar signings will help the Giants build depth and endure the rigors of a grueling 16 game season.
QB Ryan Nassib, Syracuse, Rd. 4 | Pick No. 110
RB Michael Cox, Massachusetts, Rd. 7 | 253
The Giants addressed one of their soft spots by adding top flight offensive tackle Justin Pugh to an up and down offensive line. Eli Manning will relish the extra time he is afforded in the pocket and New York's ground game could get a jolt after finishing No.14 overall in the NFL in 2012. Defensive tackle Johnathan Hawkins has the opportunity to learn from veterans Justin Tuck, Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson. While Manning's quarterback job is not in jeapordy, drafting Ryan Nassib is both a good insurance policy and could prove to be a valuable trading chip down the road. A great 2013 draft class for a Giants team looking to add quality depth to the roster.
Named Lunda Wells assistant offensive line coach, Ryan Roeder offensive assistant and Robbie Leonard defensive assistant, Named Joe Danos assistant strength and conditioning coach, Matt Shauger assistant director of pro personnel and Tim McDonnell pro scout.
Without making any major changes to the coaching staff, the Giants tweaked their scouting department by naming Matt Shauger their assistant pro personnel director and adding Tim McDonnel as a pro scout. Big Blue is a team that builds through the draft and bolstering its front office can only bring continued success for a squad with Super Bowl aspirations in 2013.
