Jaguars Find New Right Tackle

The Jaguars have reportedly agreed to terms with their new right tackle to bookend with Luke Joeckel. Find out what type of player they are getting.

With the offensive line being one of the team's biggest weaknesses in 2014, the Jaguars took to the first weekend of "pre-free agency" to address the hole.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will reportedly sign former Dallas Cowboys right tackle Jermey Parnell to a multi-year deal.

Parnell was a "swing lineman" in Dallas as he filled in for Doug Free and can also move inside to guard.

To find out what the Jaguars are getting in Parnell, we asked a few Cowboys experts.

Mike Fisher of had this to say about Parnell--

"He is a good guy and a very quiet locker room guy… basketball background… So he is long and athletic .. The Cowboys though thought it was a no-brainer to keep 31-year-old Doug Free over him ... He gets a little inconsistent on technique….. Coaches always told him to do the same thing 65 times in a game and in practice and he sometimes struggled with that consistency ... He filled in really well at the last minute in the win at Seattle early in the season when he was called upon immediately ... Did not play extremely well in the two playoff games ... Doesn't need much work on run blocking but needs technique work on pass blocking.

John Owning of had this to say about Parnell--

"He's a big athletic tackle. Good in pass protection with good feet. Struggles in run blocking because his pad level rises too much which causes him to lose leverage. Can be a solid/okay starter at right tackle."

"Also tends to have mental lapses throughout games. Struggles to stay consistent throughout the whole game, but will intertwine that with some incredible plays. "

The Jaguars aren't getting a perfect player, but perfect players don't hit free agency, especially at the tackle position. Parnell should represent a significant upgrade over Austin Pasztor and help sure up an offensive line which was one of the worst in football.
