The Jacksonville Jaguars lost yet another player from the Gene Smith era as free agent wide receiver Cecil Shorts signed with the Houston Texans, according to a Fox Sports Ohio report.
In four seasons with the Jaguars, Shorts caught 176 passes for 2,343 yards with 12 touchdowns. Shorts best year came in 2012 when he caught 55 passes for 979 yards with seven scores.
Shorts was one of the most frustrating Jaguars as he had a tendency to make difficult catches while dropping easy ones, and he seemingly always battled soft tissue injuries. Shorts has never played a full 16-game season in his four year career.
Shorts departure leaves just eight players who have been on the roster prior to general manager Dave Caldwell taking over.
