Jaguars Roster Prediction

Who will make the Jaguars final 53-man roster? We give our best guess here and explain why.

The Jaguars will have to finalize their 53-man roster by tomorrow afternoon.  We're going to take our best guess at who makes the squad.

QB's- Blake Bortles, Chad Henne

Why? It's pretty obvious.

RB's- T.J. Yeldon, Denard Robinson, Toby Gerhart, Bernard Pierce, Corey Grant

Why? Grant was better than Storm Johnson and he offers more in terms of special teams play.  The team likes Gerhart more than we do, but there is a need for a hybrid "H-back" in this offense.  If a guy like Zach Zenner were to come available, we would let Gerhart go for him.

WR's- Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns, Rashad Greene, Bryan Walters

Why?  Walters is more trustworthy than Tony Washington, as far as hands are concerned and that's why he narrowly makes it above him.  If the Jaguars find that they've made a mistake, Washington will most likely be available.  Neal Sterling will make the practice squad.

TE's- Julius Thomas, Marcedes Lewis, Clay Harbor, Nic Jacobs

Why? Jacobs has more history with the team than rookie Ben Koyack or Connor Hamlett and that's why he gets the nod.  Koyack is a candidate for the practice squad.

O-Line- Luke Joeckel, Zane Beadles, Stefen Wisnieski, Brandon Linder, Jermey Parnell, Luke Bowanko, A.J. Cann, Austin Pasztor

Why? The only real questionable pick here is Pasztor and he gets the nod because he was slightly better than Sam Young.  It's possible he can get replaced on the waiver wire as he struggled mightily all preseason.

D-Line- Sen'Derrick Marks, Roy Miller, Jared Odrick, Chris Clemons, Tyson Alualu, Ziggy Hood, Ryan Davis, Chris Smith, Cap Capi, Michael Bennett

Why? The only slight surprise is Andre Branch not being on the roster as he'll either end up on IR or waived/injured.  This lineup is based solely on production and these guys have been the most productive.

LB's- Dan Skuta, Paul Posluszny, Telvin Smith, Jeremiah George, John Lotulelei, LaRoy Reynolds

Why? The starters are pretty obvious, but it's anyone's guess who fills out the roster at linebacker.  The team has serious depth issues at the position and Reynolds may end up on IR.  This is another spot where the Jaguars could use the waiver wire.

CB's- Aaron Colvin, Davon House, Dwayne Gratz, Demetrius McCray, Nick Marshall

Why? We chose Marshall over Jeremy Harris and Peyton Thompson based on special teams abilities and upside.  Marshall would likely be inactive most game days.

S's- Jonathan Cyprien, Sergio Brown, James Sample, Josh Evans

Why? The only reason Evans survived is because of Craig Loston's ankle injury.  This is another position that could be changed via the waiver wire.

Specialists: Jason Myers, Carson Tinker, Bryan Anger

Why? Pretty obvious.
