JAGUARS PLACE RB TOBY GERHART ON RESERVE/INJURED;

PROMOTE WR RASHAD LAWRENCE FROM PRACTICE SQUAD

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed sixth-year running back Toby Gerhart (groin) on the team’s reserve/injured list and promoted first-year wide receiver Rashad Lawrence to the active roster.

Lawrence, 6-2, 195, was originally signed by Washington as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and spent the final seven games of last season on Chicago’s practice squad. Lawrence spent the offseason and preseason with Chicago before being waived on September 5. Lawrence will wear number 18.

Lawrence is now the seventh wide receiver on the Jaguars active roster. Wide receiver Allen Hurns has been ruled out (concussion), wide receiver Bryan Walters (back) is listed as questionable and wide receiver Neal Sterling (illness) is listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game at Tennessee.

Lawrence played collegiately at Northwestern and posted 96 receptions for 1,165 yards (12.1 rec. avg.) and two TDs in 37 career games. Lawrence, a native of Orlando, Fla., attended Olympia High School where he caught 113 passes for 1,352 yards and 12 touchdowns as a three-year letter-winner, helping his school claim the 2009 district championship.

Gerhart, who is in his second year with the Jaguars, appeared in seven games this season (inactive for four games) and rushed 20 times for 44 yards and caught three passes for 23 yards.

The Jaguars now have one open spot on their 10-man practice squad.
