Starting next Friday, Jags Illustrated will be kicking off the our "Coaches Corner", bringing you exclusive content and interviews from inside the Jaguars coaching staff. There isn't anyone better to explain what this team could be than the people that help put it all together.
First on our list will be a recent hire by the Jaguars, former NFL running back Leon Washington. Washington is a local guy, born and raised in Jacksonville and stayed in state to go to school at Florida State. He was in the NFL from 2006-14, playing for the Jets, Seahawks, Patriots, and the Titans. During that time, Washington was a standout on special teams and is tied with Josh Cribbs for the most kickoff return touchdowns in a career (8). He was a 2-time pro bowler, and was a first team all-pro in 2008. Since his return to Jacksonville, Leon has continually worked with the Jacksonville community and its youth through "The Leon Washington Foundation."
Jacksonville has a plethora of talent on the offensive side of the ball, and Chris Ivory and TJ Yeldon could make for one of the most dynamic one-two punches in the league this year. We'll be sitting down with Washington and getting his opinion on the battle between Ivory and Yeldon, as well as what he thinks this offense could amount to over the course of this season. Also, after the two stars... We'll see what he thinks the other backs bring to the table, if the offensive line struggles are a concern, and what he does as a coach to get through to his players.
We'll have that and more next week, so make sure to check back with us here at Jags Illustrated!
