Before each Game we will talk you thru a "2 Minute Drill" looking at what we consider to be the most important pieces of that particular contest.
The pomp and circumstance of another pre-season are about to begin. It's been the best offseason for the Jaguars in a decade. We are about to get our 1st glimpse if perception has a chance to predict reality.
2:00 - The Jags were the worst team in the NFL in the red zone last season scoring touchdowns less than 50% of the time. People vary on their ideals when it comes to building a successful offense. Any way to set it up if it scores TD's less than 50% of the time in the red zone. You will lose. A lot.
1:50 - Telvin Smith #50 is no longer the league's best kept secret at LB. If Dante Fowler Jr is as good as advertised and the secondary gels Smith will be able to take the next step. What's the step? 49ers fans remember him as Patrick Willis.
1:39 Tashaun Gipson #39 will not play. That's too bad. The guys that everyone on this team points to as their center-fielder, the glue of the secondary will be one of the five most important players on the team this year. See him back their just makes you smirk a bit know that this secondary has some swagger once again.
1:37 - Jonathan Cyprien #37 - Hey bud... It's time.
1:15 - Allen Robinson #15 - When receivers take that next step like A-Rob did in 2015 they get double covered. They take that next step by making that not matter.
1:00 How many games did the Jaguars have a chance to win in the final minute last season? 3! How many did they? I don't even need to give you the answer. Do I?
00:51 - Paul Posluszny #51 - Is he the best player in the NFL to never have made the post-season at least once in his career?
00:45 - Bjoern Werner #45 - Is there a Jag that needs a bigger 1st pre-season game than the former 1st round draft pick out of Florida State?
00:37 - Just 37 wins for the Jaguars this decade. That's including 20 pre-season games. This franchise has one winning entity since the 2007 regular season. It's the 2012 pre-season when they went 1-3. Jags fans have been pretty loyal to say the least.
00:20 Jalen Ramsey #20 is out too. This doesn't really surprise me but watching he and Brandon Marshall in one of one coverage would have been worth the ticket price alone. (Considering Stub Hub has them for $20 right now)
00:05 - Blake Bortles #5 was sacked close to 5 times a game the last two months of the season in 2016. ANother year like that David Carr's Texans ghost will start to keep him up at night.
00:01 - The earth's rotation the last 3 years has given us as many seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) as Jaguars wins (12). Anything - Even a 3-0 win is something for this organization to smile about. 1 win = 1 step forward. No matter how small.
