Pre-Game "2 Minute Drill" Jags vs Falcons

The final preseason game always reminds me the movie "The Replacements" where they all pretty much know it's over but tonight...well tonight they can be heroes. Cue: "The Wallflowers"

Its only fitting that the final game of the pre-season takes place at the Georgia Dome.   You have two organizations rebuilding their franchises in the shadow of the fresh new scaffolding on the Mercedes-Benz Dome.  The starters aren't playing....for either team.  The final pre-season game always reminds me the movie "The Replacements" where they all pretty much know it's over but tonight...well tonight they can be heroes.  Cue:  "The Wallflowers"

Here is your final "2 Minute Drill" of the pre-season

2:00 - 20 days after it began - here we are.  The Pre-Season's final act...Hut..Hut.. Hike...

1:53 -  The roster has to be down to 53 players by next week.   3 or 4 RBs?   9 or 10 Defensive Linemen?   2 or 3 QBs?  You have to rob Peter to pay Paul.  Time to figure out which is which.

1:46 - At 246 pounds Yannick Ngakoue has made a bigger impact than any rookie on this team.  His quick emergence may make a veteran or two vulnerable on that line that would've been easily on the team a month ago.

1:36 - I like Josh Johnson (36).   What a pre-season he has had.  Has it been enough?  Conventional wisdom is he can only play himself off the team at this point.   He was a body at the beginning of camp.   He now belongs on the roster.

1:27 - Kelvin Beachum is 27 years old and it took him about that many hours to become the starting left tackle once he was cleared.  Not much of a competition between he and Joeckel after all.  Huh?

1:07 - Tyson Alualu is in his 7th year as a Jaguar. That's hard to believe.  This may be the surprise roster move when the team goes from 75-53.   It'd save a few bucks and open up the door for Yannick.

0:52 - Hayes Pullard (52) started two games last year.  The fact that the Jags used him on offense last week shows us that they think he is way more versatile than originally thought.  He is one of the big question marks heading into Week 4 of the Pre-Season.

0:41 - Nick Marshall (41) is so athletic.  The problem is this organization is getting to the point in the secondary where that may not be enough.

0:31 - Demtrius McCray - Just like Nick Marshall - There just isn't a lot of room.  With Josh Johnson looking good. That's one last chair and the music is about to stop.

0:29 - Joe Baynard (29)  I like Joe.  I think he end up with the short straw.  If Corey Grant is on the team, then it's Denard Robinson or Baynard?  See, not so easy.  Is it!

0:17 - Arrelious Benn (17) He can play.  He will be in the NFL.  He just won't be on this team. This may be the best receiving trio in the NFL (Robinson, Hurns, Lee). There just isn't any room. It's like opening a new coffee shop in Seattle.

0:09 -  Brandon Allen (9) - He is the star of the show.  If he plays well and the Jags carry 3 QBs what other position loses a body?

0:02 -  If this team wins 2 pre-season games it will be just the 3rd time in the last 12 pre and regular seasons this team hasn't finished below .500 - Oh what a long road it's been.
