It’s no secret the Jags have been a sub par team for the last decade. Through a long compilation of bad draft picks, terrible coaching and even worse ownership. Shad Khan and company picked up a dumpster fire. They have made great strides in their rebuild, but there is still a lot to be done.
Peyton Manning is not wrong for picking on the Jags compared to other NFL franchises. Sure, other teams are just as bad historically and in recent years, but most of those teams have made the playoffs in the last decade (Chargers, Lions, Falcons etc.). Manning also has a history with the Jags franchise; unfortunately he was always on the opposing team.
There is a way to make Manning eat his words: win. It’s really that simple. The Jags have high expectations this season with all the new additions during the offseason and the draft. The right steps are being taken, but the Jags are still viewed among the leagues' worst teams. So before getting angry about Manning's comments, get angry at the fact this team has been terrible the last 10 years.
What Manning said doesn’t take away all the good things Shad Khan/David Caldwell regime has done. They are coming off possibly their best offseason since their inception and have cleaned house of the former ownership. Now is the time to prove Manning wrong. There is only one way to do that, win.null
