Grading the Jaguars

Scout.com grades out the Jaguars' most recent performance.

PASSING OFFENSE: D
Jimmy Smith turned a slant pattern into a 45-yard touchdown pass in the third period, but Byron Leftwich was sacked twice and intercepted twice and lost a fumble.

RUSHING OFFENSE: F

Fred Taylor went from 37 carries last week to eight in this game as the Jaguars ran for a franchise-low net 12 yards.

PASS DEFENSE: D
The Jaguars allowed an offensive lineman, Dwayne Carswell, to catch two touchdown passes as Jake Plummer was efficient with a 110.4 quarterback rating.

RUSH DEFENSE: F
This used to be the strength of the team. They were 2nd in the league in rushing defense in 2003, but they're now 29th after they were shredded for 188 rushing yardage, including a 115-yard effort by Mike Anderson. They've given up four 100-yard rushers in the last six games, dating back to the last two games of last year.

SPECIAL TEAMS: C
Chris Hanson, who was averaged a net 43.6 yards in the first three games, dropped to 36.7 in this game as the Jaguars lost the field position battle.

COACHING: F
Coach Jack Del Rio hasn't figured out how to get his team to play consistently week in and week out. The Jaguars tend to be too up and down from one week to the next. They're 8-9 in their last 17 games.
