Jags High on UTEP's Howard

A source close to the Jaguars organization says the team is high on UTEP linebacker Thomas Howard.

Three separate scouts from the Jaguars reportedly took time to meet with UTEP's Thomas Howard at the team's Pro Day last week. According to one of our network sources, the Jaguars are very high on the Miners linebacker, especially following a very successful Combine workout.

Howard was so pleased with the numbers he put up in Indianapolis, he didn't work out last week for the representatives from seventeen NFL teams. But he was busy talking to many of them during their visit.

According to TFY Draft Preview, Howard ran a 4.52 and 4.45 forty-yard dash at the Combine. The 6'-3, 230-pound linebacker knows how to put pressure on a quarterback and plays with great confidence in his abilities. And having former Bears middle linebacker Mike Singletary as his coach at the college level has helped accelerate his skills and his understanding of the position.

Howard covers the field well, whether against the run or the pass. And he has strong change of direction skills as well. He projects as a weakside linebacker at the pro level.
