Draft: LB Garnering Jaguars attention - 4/4

The Jaguars are looking at a linebacker in the upcoming draft. He is making a visit to Jacksonville in the coming weeks. Read the story and find out who.

According to Adam Caplan / Tony Pauline:
Linebacker Quincy Black is getting a lot of attention recently, and the feeling is the University of New Mexico prospect is flying up boards after his great combine workout. Black has a full slate of visits in the coming weeks as he is set to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cincinnati Bengals have also set up a private workout for the speedy defender who many think is a lock to be a first-day choice. They have a need for a linebacker after releasing MLB/WLB Brian Simmons last month and they lack quality depth at the position.

Quincy Black
Ht: 6-1.5 Wt: 240 40: 4.52
Position: LB
College: New Mexico
Junior College: Harper College
High School: Kenwood Academy HS (Chicago, IL)
Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after posting a career-high 114 tackles and adding three interceptions. Junior totals included 63 tackles.

Athletic linebacker with outstanding range. Fast to the flanks, gets great depth on pass drops and has a closing burst of speed to the play. Weaves through the traffic getting to the ball carrier, is physical and likes to get involved in the action. Wraps up tackling. Stands out in coverage, displaying top ball skills and has a burst out of his break. Quickly changes direction or immediately alters his angle of attack.

Slowed through the trash or easily blocked from the action. Inefficient, does not take the best angles to the play and over-pursues the action on occasion.
