Jaguars Talk With Local Receiver

Could the Jacksonville Jaguars take another chance at receiver? Find out who they are looking at.

As originally reported by Ed Thompson, the Jacksonville Jaguars front office sat down and had a formal interview with local Orlando product, and former University of Central Florida Knight, Mike Walker. Walker is known as more of a possession receiver, with solid NFL size at 6'2", 200 lbs. Walker was known as a strong competitor in college, and his hands are said to be very reliable. Walker's skill set is best suited for a west coast offense, which the Jaguars don't currently employ. The knocks on Walker are that he doesn't play as fast as he runs on a track, and he lacks some elusiveness with the football.

To me, Walker closely resembles a smaller version of Jaguars receiver Ernest Wilford, as he adjusts to the football well in air. Walker has better hands than Wilford as well. Walker is likely to be either a day two draft pick, or an undrafted free agent. If the Jaguars don't decide to draft anyone in this seasons' wide receiver wealthy draft, Walker will likely be an invitee to training camp, although his odds of making this Jaguars roster seem to be somewhat slim, unless he can have a huge camp.
