Jaguars Talk With Another Safety

We know that the Jaguars have a need at safety, and they will likely address that need this weekend in the draft. First round possibilities for the team include Reggie Nelson and LaRon Landry, assuming either of those players fall to the Jaguars selection (Landry would have to tumble completely to get near pick #17). Read about who else they might be looking at.

The Jaguars have also targeted Oregon State's Sabby Piscitelli as well as Utah's Eric Weddle for possible round two consideration. According to Ed Thompson, there may be one more name in the mix. That name is Josh Gattis from Wake Forest.

Josh Gattis is 6'1", 206 lbs., and ran a 4.47/40 at his pro-day. Gattis has good ball awareness and takes good angles to the football. He's aggressive in the running game, and has good instincts. Gattis is best suited for a zone system, which the Jaguars play. The only knocks on Gattis are that is tackling is suspect, and he struggles in man-to-man coverage. Jaguars defensive backs coach Alvin Reynolds and secondary coach Dave Campo had breakfast with Gattis at his pro-day and were seemingly impressed. Gattis is expected to be a late first-day selection.
