With the first of two consecutive fifth round picks (#'s 149, 150), the Jaguars selected Uche Nwaneri from Purdue University. Nwaneri is a big, strong guy, as he stands 6'3", 325, and has nice flexibility. Nwaneri works best in small spaces and can be a mauler in the running game. Some knocks on Nwaneri are that he's slow against spin moves, and he doesn't always open his hips properly. Nwaneri should excel in the trap blocking and pulling schemes that the Jaguars often employ.
Uche Nwaneri is still somewhat of a project and will have a difficult time making the team, as the Jaguars have nice depth on the offensive line with Dennis Norman, Stockar McDougle, and Dan Connelly. His size can't be taught and the Jaguars will try to mold him into a solid backup to start his pro career.
