Josh Gattis is 6'1", 206 lbs., and ran a 4.47/40 at his pro-day. Gattis has good ball awareness and takes good angles to the football. He's aggressive in the running game, and has good instincts. Gattis is best suited for a zone system, which the Jaguars play. The only knocks on Gattis are that is tackling is suspect, and he struggles in man-to-man coverage. Jaguars defensive backs coach Alvin Reynolds and secondary coach Dave Campo had breakfast with Gattis at his pro-day and were impressed.
The Jaguars have filled their safety needs in this draft with "the eraser", Reggie Nelson and Gattis. Gattis should challenge for a roster spot by being a special teams contributer, and is a little more polished than current Jaguars safety, Jamaal Fudge.
