Jaguars Sign Carney, Cut Reyes

The Jaguars have signed kicker John Carney, to step in for the injured Josh Scobee. Carney is a veteran of 19 years, and has played for the Buccaneers, the Rams, the Chargers, and most recently, the New Orleans Saints.

Carney has a career field goal percentage of 81.8, hitting on 23 of 25 field goals in 2006 while playing for the Saints. Carney is most famous in Jacksonville for his missed extra point in 2003, when the Saints took the game's final kickoff back for a touchdown, after they lateraled the ball numerous times. Scobee will be out of action anywhere from 2-8 weeks with his injured leg.

To make room for Carney, the Jaguars cut veteran guard, Tutan Reyes again. Reyes was released already by the club, then re-signed. Reyes' $720,000 salary is guaranteed for the season.
