Barnes was involved in a one-car accident when he crashed into a tree a week ago, but the decision not to start Barnes was apparently injury related. Coach Jack Del Rio declined to say last week whether he was going to take any disciplinary action against Barnes.
"The way the week meant, it made the most sense to not let him play on a swollen ankle," Del Rio said.
Barnes said, "It's something Jack decided. I was going to be available in case somebody went down but both tackles (Williams and Tony Pashos) did a good job and there was no need for me today."
Barnes said he hopes to be back by next week.
"I'm going to get back in the swing of things and, hopefully, be ready to roll," he said.
