Report Card: Jaguars vs. Panthers

Scout.com rates the Jacksonville Jaguars in their performance against the Carolina Panthers

PASSING OFFENSE: B-plus
David Garrard didn't have his best day, but he still passed for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 93.5 quarterback rating, which is slightly below his season average of 103.3.

RUSHING OFFENSE: A
Fred Taylor rushed for over 100 yards for the third game in a row as he got 132 yards on 18 carries, including an 80-yard touchdown run. He now has 944 yards for the season and is tied for fifth place in the AFC.

PASS DEFENSE: B
They held Vinny Testaverde to 84 yards passing, but they didn't put much pressure on the Panthers QB and sacked him only once, although Testaverde kept throwing on three-step drops. Clint Ingram returned a bad Testaverde throw 39 yards for a touchdown.

RUSH DEFENSE: B-plus
They held DeShaun Foster to 46 yards on just 11 carries. They were helped by the fact that the Panthers abandoned the run too soon.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B
Josh Scobee kicked three short field goals from 21, 20 and 33 yards and Dennis Northcutt returned three punts for 60 yards. The punt team virtually had the day off as Adam Podlesh punted only once.

COACHING: B plus
The coaching staff did a good job of avoiding a trap game as the Jaguars played Indianapolis last week and are at Pittsburgh next week. They started slow in the first half when they scored only 10 points, but got 27 points in the second half as they didn't lose their focus.
