More Jaguars Tryouts

The Jaguars appear poised to make another personnel move, as they invited four more players to the facility for an official tryout yesterday. With the uncertain status of defensive tackle Marcus Stroud's ankle injury Sunday, it would appear that there is a strong possibility of Stroud being sent to the injured reserve list, and lost for the season.

In no specific order, the players that the Jaguars worked out were linebackers Brian Crum, James Davis, and DaShon Polk, as well as defensive end Shantee Orr. Crum is a former Florida Gator, who was draft eligible last April, and ended up signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent rookie. Crum is 6'3", 236 lbs., and his best 40 time prior to being drafted was a 4.67. The outside linebacker was waived by the Chiefs back in August, and received an injury settlement.

James Davis is a former University of West Virginia Mountaineer, who played both linebacker and defensive end in college. Davis was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth-round, back in 2003, and spent three seasons with the Lions before being waived. "Dirty" Davis, the 6'2", 240 lb. linebacker was then signed by the New York Giants this summer, and then released back in September.

DaShon Polk is a 30 year old veteran linebacker, who was initially drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh-round back in 2000. Polk, the former University of Arizona Wildcat, played in Buffalo until 2003, and was then signed by the Houston Texans, where he was a member of several losing teams up until last year. The 6'2", 238 lb. linebacker has 155 career tackles, 4.5 career sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Shantee Orr is a former Michigan Wolverine, who starred for three seasons at defensive end before being signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent rookie in 2003. The 6'0", 246 lb. Orr was a practice squad player in the beginning of his career before cracking the 53-man roster in 2005. In a little more than two seasons with Houston, Orr has totaled 78 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. Orr played in his last game with the Texans on October 28th, against San Diego, a game in which he registered one tackle.
