Third Corner for Jaguars

It's not unrealistic to think of Drayton Florence as a third starting cornerback, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. Florence, a starter in the secondary his first four years in the league with San Diego, could very well join Rashean Mathis and Brian Williams as starting corners this season.

"That may be the case because about 60 percent of the time, we play our sub-package where we start an extra corner instead of a third linebacker," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. "We'll open a game and play our third corner more than we'll play our third linebacker.

"We feel we have three really good corners. Brian (Williams) also has the ability to slide into safety if we decide that that's what's best for our football team. So we have some flexibility there.

"We're just excited to be able to add a quality player like Drayton. He's played at a high level, a guy that is really entering his prime. He's just finishing his rookie contract, he's got experience, has played with a winner and understands what it takes to help a football team win. We think he's a great gift for our defense. It now allows us to concentrate on the defensive line when we go into the draft."
