Jaguars Mock Season (Weeks 14-17)

We are going to break down the season into four, four-game stretches, similar to what the Jaguars coaching staff themselves do. Here is a brief preview of the upcoming games, each team's record entering the game, and more importantly what we believe will happen. Here are the final weeks of the season.

Week Fourteen- Jacksonville (9-3) at Chicago (4-8)

The Chicago Bears host Jacksonville as the Bears are in the midst of their second consecutive disappointing season. The Bears defense is solid, but their offense can't get out of its own way, as they've bounced back and forth between Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton, and start a rookie, Matt Forte at running back.

Jacksonville continues their season-long streak of not losing consecutive games as Chicago can't muster up enough offense to keep up with the Jaguars in a very cold, windy atmosphere. Jags by seven.

Week Fifteen- Green Bay (9-4) at Jacksonville (10-3)

The Packers make the trip south to Jacksonville led by a very strong defense, a solid running game, and an efficient quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. Legions of Packers fans will find their way into the friendly confines of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, and the Jaguars will struggle against a team fighting for a top seed and a bye in the NFC.

Jacksonville loses a heartbreaker at home, as the Green Bay defense stands strong in the fourth quarter. The loss is especially tough for the Jaguars, as they drop a game below the Colts in the standings, with Indianapolis coming to town next week for a showdown.

Week Sixteen- Indianapolis (11-3) at Jacksonville (10-4)

The Jaguars need a win against their division rivals at home if they have any hope of claiming their first division title in nine years. The Colts come in rolling as they can see the finish line to their sixth consecutive AFC South title.

Jack Del Rio and his troops end the Colts dominance, at least for one week as Jacksonville runs with relative ease, and the Jaguars pull even with Indianapolis with one game to play.

Week Seventeen- Jacksonville (11-4) at Baltimore (4-11)

The Jaguars are in a must win situation to maintain hope of a division title, and Baltimore is playing out the string with rookie quarterback Joe Flacco. This looks like a mismatch on paper, and a bigger mismatch on the field.

Jacksonville comes out and takes care of business, as they should. The Jaguars jump on the Ravens early, and win in blowout fashion to end their regular season at 12-4.

The good news is that the Jaguars won double digit games for the third time in four years, and have secured a playoff spot. The bad news is that Indianapolis beat Tennessee in their season finale, and claimed the AFC South title due to a tiebreaker advantage over the Jaguars. Still, the Jaguars are playing their best football entering the postseason, and they should be a factor despite having the fifth-seed.
